Privacy notice
Effective July 5, 2026
This page is maintained by B&R Enterprises to explain how Clay Buddy™ handles data. Clay Buddy is designed to work with the smallest amount of information necessary to keep score.
What we collect
- Session data you enter. Shooter names or nicknames, station configuration, and hit/miss taps. This is the entire purpose of the app.
- A short session code. When you create an online squad round, we generate a short code so other phones can join. The code is not tied to your identity.
- Basic technical logs. Our hosting provider automatically records standard request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) for security and abuse prevention.
What we don't collect
- We don't require an account, email, phone number, or real name.
- We don't sell data. We don't run advertising trackers.
- We don't collect location, contacts, photos, or firearm information.
Offline / solo rounds
Rounds started with "Score offline (solo)" are stored only in your browser's local storage on your device. They are not transmitted to us unless you use the "upload to cloud" action, which copies that data to our backend so it can be shared via a code.
How data is stored
Cloud session data is stored with our backend hosting provider (a managed Postgres database) and is transmitted over HTTPS. Realtime updates use encrypted WebSocket connections. We keep session data only as long as needed to operate the app; inactive sessions may be pruned periodically without notice.
Cookies
Clay Buddy does not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies. The app uses local browser storage to remember settings and offline rounds on your device.
Children
Clay Buddy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
Because we don't tie session data to your identity, we generally have no way to look up "your" data. If you'd like a specific session removed, contact us via the address on the Legal page and include the 6-character session code.
Changes
We may update this notice from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Effective" date at the top of this page.
